Step-by-step instructions

1. Unfold what you need
Open the sections one at a time. Fully straighten each section you’re using so the ruler sits in a straight line.

2. Start at zero
Line up the zero mark with the edge of the object or the starting point of your measurement.

3. Keep it straight
Place the ruler along the distance you want to measure. Keep it flat and aligned for an accurate reading.

4. Read your measurement
Find the marking that lines up with the other edge. Check which units you’re reading before recording the result.

5. Fold it away
Fold the sections back together one at a time. Avoid forcing the joints or bending the ruler sideways.
